How Jesus Helped Me Break Free From Ice
My name is Ingrid, and this is my testimony How Jesus Helped Me Break Free From Ice
For two agonizing years, I was caught in the grip of the drug ice. It was one of the darkest seasons of my life. I felt trapped, ashamed, and powerless to break free on my own.
But through the grace of Jesus Christ, I found the strength to walk away and begin again.
This is not a story about me being strong. This is a story about Jesus being merciful.
I Was Trapped In Darkness
When I look back on that time, I can see how deeply lost I was. Ice did not give me freedom. It took from me. It affected my peace, my thinking, my choices, and the way I saw myself.
Addiction can make you feel like you are no longer yourself. It can make you feel stuck in a place you never meant to be. It can bring shame, fear, and confusion.
But even there, God saw me.
He saw past the addiction. He saw past the mistakes. He saw the person He created me to be.
The Bible says:
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
That verse means so much to me because I know what it feels like to be brokenhearted. I also know what it feels like for God to come near.

I Needed Jesus To Rescue Me
I tried to be strong, but I could not save myself.
I needed more than willpower. I needed more than good intentions. I needed a Savior who could reach into the darkness and pull me out.
That Savior was Jesus.
He did not turn away from me because of my past. He did not say I was too far gone. He did not reject me because I had made mistakes.
Jesus met me with mercy.
The Bible says:
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36
That is what Jesus did for me. He helped me break free from something that had held me captive. He gave me hope when I felt hopeless. He gave me a way forward when I could not see one.
Grace Was Greater Than My Shame
One of the hardest parts of that season was shame.
Shame tells you that you are finished. Grace tells you God is not finished with you.
Shame tells you to hide. Grace invites you to come to Jesus.
Shame says your past defines you. Grace says Jesus can make you new.
I had to learn that my past was not bigger than God’s mercy. My mistakes were not stronger than the blood of Jesus. The darkness I had been in was not stronger than His light.
The Bible says:
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” — Colossians 1:13
That verse speaks directly to my heart. God delivered me from darkness. He brought me into the light of His Son, Jesus.
Breaking Free Was A Journey
I want to be honest. Breaking free did not mean everything became easy overnight.
Healing takes time. Freedom is a journey. Some days are harder than others. But with Jesus, I was no longer walking alone.
God gave me strength one step at a time.
He helped me keep going. He helped me believe my life still had purpose. He helped me see that I was not only a person with a painful past. I was a person with a future in Him.
There is no shame in needing help. God can use prayer, Scripture, wise people, church support, doctors, counselors, and safe recovery help. Getting help does not mean you have no faith. It means you are choosing life.
Jesus Gave Me A New Start
Today, I can say with a thankful heart that Jesus helped me break free from ice.
I am not proud of the darkness, but I am grateful for the light.
I share this testimony because someone else may need hope. Maybe you are struggling, or maybe someone you love is caught in something they cannot seem to break free from.
Please hear this: Jesus is still able to save, heal, restore, and set people free.
You are not too far gone. You are not beyond help. You are not too broken for Jesus.
Your story does not have to end in darkness.
A Prayer If You Need Help
If you are struggling today, you can pray a simple prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I need You. I cannot do this on my own. Please help me. Bring me out of darkness and lead me into Your light. Give me strength to take the next right step. Amen.”
That prayer can be the beginning of a new road.
Jesus helped me break free, and I believe He can help others too.
Thank you for reading my testimony.
Kindest regards,
Ingrid 😀
