Testimony of Redemption: From Darkness to Light
My name is Ingrid, and this is the story of how Jesus rescued me from the darkness of schizophrenia and brought me into His light.
This is not a story about me being strong. It is a story about God being faithful.
For many years, my life was not easy. I went through confusion, fear, and battles in my mind that many people may not fully understand unless they have walked through something similar.
Schizophrenia is not something I would wish on anyone. It can make life feel heavy. It can make simple things feel hard. It can make you feel alone, even when people are around you.
But even in the middle of that darkness, God was there.
At the time, I did not always see it clearly. When you are struggling, it can feel like God is far away. But looking back now, I can see His hand on my life. He did not leave me. He did not throw me away. He did not say, “You are too broken for Me.”
Jesus came close.
God Met Me In The Darkness
There were times when I felt overwhelmed. My thoughts were heavy, and life felt too much. But God slowly began to show me that my life still had value.
The Bible says:
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5**
That verse means a lot to me because Jesus is that light.
Darkness can be loud. Fear can be loud. Confusion can be loud. But the light of Jesus is stronger.
He did not just give me religion. He gave me hope.
He showed me that I was not forgotten. I was not beyond help. I was not too far gone. I was loved by God.

Jesus Became My Hope
When I began to understand who Jesus really is, something changed in my heart.
Jesus is not just a name people mention in church. He is the Savior. He is the One who came for people who are lost, tired, broken, and in need of grace.
The Bible says:
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28**
That verse feels personal to me.
Jesus did not say, “Fix yourself first.” He said, “Come to Me.”
That is what I did. I came to Him with my weakness, my pain, my questions, and my need for help.
And He met me with mercy.

Faith And Healing Are A Journey
My testimony does not mean everything became perfect overnight. Life with mental health struggles can still have hard days. But now I do not walk through those days alone.
I believe God can heal. I also believe God can use doctors, medication, wise support, church, prayer, and Scripture to help us keep walking.
There is no shame in needing help.
God is not angry with someone because they struggle in their mind. Jesus is compassionate. He understands weakness. He draws near to the brokenhearted.
The Bible says:
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
That gives me comfort.
God is not far away from hurting people. He is near.

From Fear To Peace
One of the biggest things Jesus has done in my life is give me peace.
Not the kind of peace the world gives. Not the kind that depends on everything going perfectly. But the kind of peace that says, “God is with me. I am not alone.”
There are still moments when I have to remind myself of the truth. I have to speak God’s Word over my life. I have to pray. I have to take one step at a time.
But now I know where my help comes from.
The Bible says:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1**
That means God is not only there when life is easy. He is there in trouble. He is there in weakness. He is there when we need Him most.
Why I Share My Testimony
I share my testimony because someone else may need hope.
Maybe you are reading this and you feel like your life is too messy for God. Maybe you feel ashamed, tired, confused, or far away from Him.
Please hear this clearly: you are not too far from Jesus.
He came to save sinners. He came to heal the broken. He came to bring light into dark places.
Your story is not over.
God can take what feels broken and bring beauty from it. He can take pain and turn it into a testimony. He can take a life that feels lost and lead it back home.

Jesus Is Still Changing Lives
Jesus changed my life, and He is still working on me.
I am still learning. I am still growing. I still need His grace every day. But I can say this with a thankful heart: Jesus has brought me from darkness to light.
The Bible says:
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” — Colossians 1:13
That is what redemption means.
God rescues. God restores. God brings us home.
A Word For You
If you are struggling today, start with a simple prayer.
You do not need perfect words.
You can say:
“Lord Jesus, I need You. Please help me. Bring Your light into my life. Show me the way back to God.”
He hears the honest cry of the heart.
You are loved. You are not forgotten. And with Jesus, there is always hope.
Thank you for reading my testimony.
Kindest regards,
Ingrid 😀
